They use sirloin steak vs. Ground beef which makes it that much better. Sometimes you must be patient when. Desert Pepper Trading Company was born and raised on the border of Texas, Mexico, and New Mexico. This amazing crux of bright flavors, sunlight, and the desert Southwest inspires us in every way.

The recipes are all tempting. It's best to have at least some tortilla chips and salsa nearby whilst perusing. BUT, if you don't like chopping peppers, don't buy this book!
And the desserts?
Sweet potato spice rack pie.
Adobe pie, made with two kinds of ice cream, plus Kahlua chocolate sauce.
Blueberry cornbread pudding with custard sauce.
Dammit! Now there's drool all over my keyboard.

This is an excellent cookbook on El Paso, lovingly presented. One of the best features is an appendix with the natural and cultural history of many of the ingredients central to the cuisine. The unpretentious recipes are equally impressive, including a lot of local favorites and some creative departures.
I'm taking this copy back to the library and buying one of my own.

Loved this one so much that I bought 2 additional copies--one for my DIL and one for a friend who moved north and is missing Texas. I'm not going to critique individual recipes, but there are lots of keepers in this book!
Reasonable cookbook, but I would go with the Border Cookbook
